Frame One: This Sensual Splash of Visual Art and History in Haiku: by Pearldiver
Visual haiku sails across all time.
Woodblock Prints: Japanese life and lifestyle as it was.
Frame One: This Sensual Splash of Visual Haiku: by Pearldiver is the first in a series of frames capturing the essence of a random selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from a cross section of famous Masters, who have helped shape the artistic beauty of the world. This genre of art originated in feudal Japan and in the true spirit of that culture, the objective was to provide a maximum visual interpretation and effect, in the simplest glimpse of the lifestyle of the day. In many respects, the key objective in the creation of haiku embraces the same principle.
The original haiku within each frame has been written by Pearldiver to specifically embrace and enhance the scene and artistic brilliance highlighted within each subject print. In this respect the author has taken a perspective that may well have been similar to those who first fell for the magic of traditional woodblock printing and the vast array of embedded personal skills displayed by the Masters, within their individual styles, unique personalities and chosen niches.
Today in photography we consider that the ability to capture the complexities of simplicity provides the photographer's audience a visual glimpse of the photographer's brilliance and lateral ability to 'see the shot' prior to the capture. I personally believe that it is that exact quality which determined the very essence of the Master's heart and commitment to this ancient style of artwork and printing.
Great Haiku is also similar in that respect, when considered from a sensual perspective, in that it is intentionally written to enhance the senses and thus provide a maximum amount of almost ambiguous visualization, sparked from so few words. Aren't we lucky that throughout history, special people have embraced their creative talents and shared the beauty of those talents with the rest of us. Please enjoy: Frame One.

So much life flows in streams.
One a:
Flat stone passing by
Fast flowing shallow stream
Babble burble bye
oo0oo
Golden carp waiting
New Mayflies hatching tonight
Circles increasing
oo0oo
Moonlit flickering
In tune with swaying reeds
Swiftly over green stones
oo0oo
Springtime haiku
Hatching from winter dreams
Lovers words shared
oo0oo
Life flows in streams
Each fat carp has now eaten
The slowest mayflies

These Moon Phases.
One b:
Three moon phases
Always on nights like tonight
In sake company
oo0oo
Distant town lights
Three hills shimmer closer
Walking under stars
oo0oo
Shadows come closer
Tempting the moon to give up
Her silver moonbeams

From the cover print above.
One c:
Wooden tiller wet
Still breezes billow this sail
Skating on glass seas
oo0oo
Rock sails past warm skies
Daily journeys made purposely
Just being a boat
oo0oo
A calm summer day
Sailing fishing boats gather
Cast sails catching wind
